Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Eupora for Vivian Elizabeth Morrow Cummings, 86, of Eupora, who passed into glory on Wednesday, May 17, in Grenada surrounded by her family. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery in Grady. The Rev. Travis Gray and the Rev. Caleb Cummings officiated. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, and from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, May 22, at First Baptist Church of Eupora.
Elizabeth was born on Feb. 14, 1937, in Grady, the daughter of the late John Alex and the late Bessie Van Landingham Morrow. She graduated from Eupora High School, Wood Junior College and Mississippi State University. She taught business law and business communications at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2001. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Eupora.
Elizabeth is reunited in heaven with her husband of 60 years, the Rev. Doyle Cummings. Together, they served faithfully as pastor and wife at Fellowship Baptist Church in Choctaw County, Philadelphia Baptist Church in Lincoln County, Schlater Baptist Church in Schlater, Second Baptist Church Indianola, First Baptist Church Itta Bena, director of missions in Bolivar County and many other churches as interim pastor.
Elizabeth enjoyed researching family genealogy and history. She discovered and had published the diary of her great grandfather, which detailed his life from 1847-1912. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
In addition to her parents and husband, her siblings, Adelaide Morrow Payne, John Morrow Jr., Sam Morrow, Mildred Morrow, Ed Morrow and Mary Eleanor Morrow Randall, preceded Elizabeth in death.
Survivors include, her sons, Andy Cummings and his wife, Jan, and David Cummings and his wife, Betty, all of Grenada; her grandchildren, Cassie Matusiak (Dave) of Grenada, Caleb Cummings (Meredith) of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and McKenzie Cummings and Matt Cummings, both of Grenada; great grandchildren, Hadley Cummings and Levi Cummings, both of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora was in charge of arrangements.
