A private family graveside service was held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Grenada for Mrs. Mamie Montgomery, 74, of Grenada, who died on Wednesday, May 17, at her residence.
Mamie was born on Jan. 22, 1949, in Pontotoc County, the daughter of the late O.F. and the late Mattie Ethel Smith Holcomb. She retired as the office manager at Defenbaugh Finance Company after working there for many years. She was a member of the Zion Grove Church of God of Prophecy. She loved spending time with her family and adored her children and grandchildren. While we grieve this earthly loss, we take comfort in knowing she held in her soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, seven siblings, preceded Mamie in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 55 years, the Rev. Joe Montgomery; her daughter, Sonia Simpson (Herman) of Grenada; her sons, Joe Montgomery (Terri) and Daniel Montgomery (Misty), all of Grenada; two sisters, Shirley Tedford and Annie Carter (William), all of Pontotoc; one brother, Earl Holcomb of Thaxton; five grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell (Trent) of Grenada, Tori Williams (Blake) of Florence; Emma Grace Montgomery, Ally Kate Montgomery and Joley Beth Montgomery and four great grandchildren, Khloe Campbell, Myles Williams, Korie Campbell and Hayes Williams.
