GHS opens region tennis with victory over Tigers

The Grenada High School tennis team opened Class 6A, Region 1 play at home against South Panola last Thursday as the Chargers cruised to a 7-0 victory.
In singles action, senior Shanvi Kher won a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Rosa Lee Spooner. Classmate Gabe Reyna downed Bailey Willoughby 6-1, 6-0.

Kirk Raiders edge rival Carroll for first win

It’s been a tough start heading into the season for the Kirk Academy Raiders baseball team.
Second-year head coach Zach Whitfield’s team was 0-8 prior to last Thursday’s home game with Carroll Academy. The Raiders started fast with five runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 6-4 win.

After starting the season 6-2, the Grenada High School Lady Chargers opened Class 6A, Region 1 play at home last Thursday night against Saltillo High School.
Coach Leslie Lancaster’s girls came out of gate fast, scoring three runs in the first inning en route to an 8-3 victory.
