Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Sherry Thomas Pyron, 77, of Tupelo, formerly of Grenada, who died on Sunday, May 14, in Tupelo. Burial followed in Oddfellows Cemetery. Dr. Brent Barker and the Rev. J. Barry Worrell officiated. The family received friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday, May 17, at McKibben and Guinn.
Sherry was born on Dec. 6, 1945, in French Camp, the daughter of the late Beryl and the late Iva Love Strain Thomas. A devoted homemaker, Sherry will long be remembered as a wonderful mother and “Nana.” She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada and was active in the JOY Sunday school class. Sherry enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and always loved to cook and share her wonderful food with those she loved. She possessed a giving heart and her selfless spirit will be carried in the hearts of those she loved for many years to come.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Larry Pyron, and her brother, Larry Thomas, preceded Sherry in death.
Survivors include, her daughters, Shannon Pyron Chrisman (Leland) of Tupelo and Dana Pyron Caskey (Jim) of Madison; her sister, Lovie Thomas McGlothin of French Camp and four grandchildren, Conner Chrisman (Hannah), Jacob Caskey, Briley Kate Clement (Drew) and Graham Chrisman.
Jacob Caskey, Jim Caskey, Conner Chrisman, Graham Chrisman, Leland Chrisman, Drew Clement, Brad Fleming and Dwayne McKinney honored Sherry by serving as pallbearers and carrying her to rest in Oddfellows Cemetery.
