Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Peggy Pearlene Hood Fowler, 93, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Sept. 28, at her residence. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery. Bro. Ben McAnally officiated.
Pearlene was born on April 21, 1930, in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Buford and the late Mary Clemons Hood. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, was a master seamstress and loved to cook for her family and friends. Pearlene was a faithful member of the Southside Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school, women’s classes and spent time visiting shut-in church members. She also spent countless hours babysitting and caring for elderly friends and family. Her sweet, giving spirit will be missed for many years to come.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Grover Campbell “G.C.” Fowler; one son, Jerry Fowler; three sisters, Eunice Long, Mary Ann Whitby and Ruth Harbin, and three brothers, Jack Hood, Truman Hood and Robert “Gus” Hood, preceded Pearlene in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Sandra Gray of Grenada; two sons, Greg Fowler of Tampa, Fla., and Tim Fowler of Grenada; seven grandchildren, Margaret Hill, Brandi Hood, Richard Fowler, Kevin Gray, Phillip Gray, Gregory Fowler Jr. and Dona Fowler, and seven great grandchildren, Nicholas Fowler, Nolan Fowler, Peyton Gray, Ainsley Gray, Jensen Gray, Malachi Hood and Levi Hood.
Jeffrey Ferguson, Jeremy Ferguson, Richard Fowler, Kevin Gray, Peyton Gray and Phillip Gray honored Pearlene by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in the Red Hill Cemetery.
