In carrying out his wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life Service held at a later date at The District Coffee Company in Ocean Springs for Parish Glenn Portera, 58, who died on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, in Water Valley, after experiencing a massive stroke on Aug. 19.
Parish was born on Aug. 17, 1965, in Grenada, the son of the late Tony F. Portera Jr. and the late Bonnie McPherson Barton, where he spent his entire life with the exception of a couple of short stints in Louisiana and Tennessee. Parish was a fun-loving, eternal optimist that loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He was the definition of an extrovert, who never met a stranger. He was deeply committed to his friends and loved ones, as they were to him.
Survivors include, his son, Isaac Portera; daughter, Amie Oliver; sister, Laniesa Portera Moore (Coleman); brothers, Anthony Page Portera and Jo Tindall Dimaio (Jamie); stepmother, Joy F. Portera; aunts, Tonita Portera Vick (Jerry) and Sarah Glenn Hankins (William); nephews, Cayson Moore, Glynn and Nicolas Dimaio and many extended family members whom he dearly loved.
The family would like to thank all of the many friends that visited and encouraged Parish throughout his courageous fight to overcome the stroke.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
