Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona with Rev. Ken Uselton officiating for Robert G. “Bob” Williams, 76, of Brighton, formerly of Vaiden, who died on Friday, Feb. 23, in Tennessee. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada with the Rev. C.J. Moore officiating. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, at Oliver Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born on May 18, 1947, in Greenwood, the son of the late W.O. and the late Josephine Whitehead Williams. He was a retired hardware salesman who loved to fish in his spare time. He enjoyed writing songs and poetry, and sharing his thoughts with the community through the local newspapers. A man of faith, he was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church during his early years before he and his family moved to Winona where they became members of North Winona Baptist Church. Later in life, moving back to Vaiden, he moved his letter back to Vaiden.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Margie Stewart Williams; two sisters and three brothers, preceded Mr. Williams in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Christy Moore of Grenada; son, Stewart Williams (Lesley) of Brighton, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Caleb Everett Williams and Aubrey Kate Williams, both of Brighton, Tenn., C.J. Moore (Cassandra) of Oxford and Carrie Criddle (Casey) of Sugar Grove, Ill.; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Williams Rosamond of Grenada and Sharon Williams Byrd of Hurley; two brothers, David Williams (Patsy) of Duck Hill and Roger Williams of Grenada and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dale Stewart, Jonathan Williams, Morgan Day, Brooks Day, John Bishop and Jimmy Day.
