Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, in the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada for Laretta Ann “Peewee” Briscoe, 54, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, Oct. 31, in Grenada. Burial followed in Scobey Cemetery. Bro. Ricky Harris officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Briscoe was born on June 14, 1969, in Ruleville, the daughter of Billy Joe and Edna Fay Blaine Griffin. She began her career in the healthcare field as a phlebotomist, working in both the hospital and physician’s office settings. She worked for Dr. Tarsi for many years and eventually became the front office coordinator there. She then went to work as a patient services coordinator II in several clinics, the last of which was the University of Mississippi Medical Center-Grenada Wound Care Clinic. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Grenada.
Survivors include, her husband, Jimmy Briscoe of Grenada; daughter, Ashley Overley (Eric) of Memphis, Tenn.; one grandson, Christopher Dale Overley of Memphis, Tenn.; her parents, Billy Joe and Edna Fay Griffin of Ruleville; sister, Connie McCool (Bill) of Pope, and brothers, Bobby Joe Griffin (Mary Jane) of Cleveland and Milton Eugene Griffin of Drew.
