Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Stonefield Church of God in Cascilla for Mr. Larry Grantham, 74, of Cascilla, who died on Monday, Oct. 30, in Oxford. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Bishop A.D. Gammill, the Rev. Mark Moore and the Rev. Brian Stockton officiated.
Larry was born on Jan. 10, 1949, in Vaiden, the son of the late Casey Leo and the late Edna Earl King Grantham. He honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era on the DMZ in South Korea and continued his service in the Army Reserves. He spent most of his working life as a plumber and electrician, and made many friends and acquaintances through his work.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed woodworking, playing the guitar and cooking delicious meals for his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Stonefield Church of God.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Betty Smith, Rosemary Vaughn and Tammy Tillman, and two brothers, Don Grantham and Tommy Grantham, preceded Larry in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Scallion Grantham; his daughters, Natisha Ann Grantham Frazier (Paul) of Holcomb, Mandy Grantham Stockton (Brian) of Starkville and Kasey Grantham Williams (Nick) of Charleston; one sister, Diane Gammill (A.D.) of Columbia; one brother, Ricky Grantham (Debbie) of Holcomb; nine grandchildren, Hannah Franklin, Kristen Salley (Joseph), Haley Frazier (Jeremy), Travis Frazier, Caleb Stockton, Lillian Stockton, Sophia Stockton, Joel Williams (Celeste) and Molly Williams, and one great grandchild, his little buddy, Jaxson Franklin.
Travis Frazier, William Gammill, Barry Rounsaville, Joseph Salley, Caleb Stockton and Joel Williams honored Larry by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Stonefield Cemetery. Billy Joe Allbritton, Charles Garrard, Johnny Scallion and Kenneth “Stick” Stokes served as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Stonefield Cemetery Fund.
