Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Holcomb Baptist Church for Mr. Harry L. Lott Sr., 90, of Holcomb, who died on Saturday, Nov. 25, at his residence. Burial followed in Holcomb Cemetery. The family received friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday, Nov. 27, at Holcomb Baptist Church.
Harry was born on May 20, 1933, in Carroll County, the son of the late C.W. and the late Inez Smith Lott. He enjoyed a 42 ½-year career at Heatcraft in Grenada and was a lifelong cattle farmer. He was a faithful member of Holcomb Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. He was instrumental in forming a Little League Baseball team in Holcomb in years past and had also served as a Boy Scout Troop master.
Mr. Lott also honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. An avid outdoorsman, Harry enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, and especially enjoyed duck hunting with his faithful Labrador, Pistol Pete. Harry will long be remembered as a devoted family man who treasured the time that he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include, his wife, Rachel Smith Lott; son, Harry L. Lott Jr. (Patricia) of Holcomb; two granddaughters, Meredith Dendinger (Will) of Madison and Mary Katherine Bolin (Ross) of Dallas, Texas, and four great grandchildren, Emmaline Dendinger, Margaret Dendinger, Lottie Bolin and Bo Bolin.
William Brown, Chad Gray, Sonny Holland, Michael Lott, Ben Earl Smith and Greg Smith honored Harry by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Holcomb Cemetery. Hayes Branscome, Bill Brasher, Paul Lindsey Gray and Tommy Liddell served as honorary pallbearers.
