Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. L.C. Pyles, 93, of Duck Hill, who died on Sunday, Oct. 1, in Oxford. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, Oct. 4, all at McKibben and Guinn.
L.C. was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in Elliott, the son of the late Eddie Lee and the late Rosella Bain Pyles. Mr. Pyles honorably served our country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Southside Church of Christ where he faithfully served as a front-door greeter every Sunday morning that he was able.
L.C. enjoyed a career spanning more than 45 years at Heatcraft in Grenada. A lifelong cattleman, L.C. knew the value of hard work and spent many hours tending to his cattle and farm. He also spent more than 60 years working with youth involved in 4-H in Montgomery County and also at the Mississippi State Fair in Jackson.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Sue Fowler Pyles, and his brother, Jimmy Pyle, preceded L.C. in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Delight Osborne (Clif) of Grenada; his son, Paul Pyles (Kathy) of Elliott; his sister, Winnie Pyles Winn of Duck Hill; five grandchildren, Matthew Pyles, Daniel Osborne, Kaitlin Renfro, Pake Pyles and Lane Pyles, and six great grandchildren, Darby Renfro, Carson Renfro, Olivia Renfro, Reese Renfro, Donzie Osborne and Lee Osborne.
Pallbearers were Robert Lanahan, Daniel Osborne, Lane Pyles, Matthew Pyles, Pake Pyles, Carson Renfro, Reese Renfro and Steve Renfro.
