Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at The Foundry Church in Winona for Joey Harmon, 78, of Winona, formerly of Pontotoc, who died on Tuesday, June 13, at his residence. The Rev. John Goldwater officiated. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday, June 16, at the church.
Mr. Harmon was born on March 14, 1945, in Pontotoc, the son of the late Carl and the late Gillie Hinton Harmon. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of The Foundry Church in Winona.
In addition to his parents, four of his former loyal companions, preceded Mr. Harmon in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Valeria Duke Harmon of Winona; his daughters, Lori Dawn Harmon of Springville and Valeri Jo Watts of Pontotoc; three stepdaughters, Penny Simpson of Memphis, Tenn., Dana Whitworth of Collierville, Tenn., and Wendy Marable of Saltillo; his sister, Gillie Anne Doty of Tupelo; his brother, James Howard Harmon of Pontotoc; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren and five loyal companions.
