Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Charleston for William “Bill” Leon Ellard II, 79, who died on Wednesday, May 31, in Grenada. Burial followed in Pittsboro Cemetery in Pittsboro. The Rev. Tommy Stephenson officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to service time on Saturday, June 3, at the church.
William was born on July 1, 1943, the son of the late Mary Brand and the late William Leon Ellard.
In addition to his parents, one sister, Jane Gore, and one brother, Charlie Ellard, preceded William in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Ellard; daughters, Anne Marie Ross (Kevin) of Taylor and Wendi Dees (Dewayne) of Grenada; three sisters, Ruth Caldwell (Danny) of Oxford, Betty Bracken of Brandon and Molly Brown (Bobby) of Raymond; one brother, John Ellard (Shirley) of Pittsboro and four grandchildren, Duncan Dees, Jillian Dalton, Kobin Ross and Seth Ross.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 159, Charleston, MS 38921.
