Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Travis Leroy Mitchell Jr., 70, of Grenada, who died on Friday, Aug. 5, at his residence. Burial followed in the Mitchell family plot in Smith Cemetery in the Rosebloom Community of Tallahatchie County. The Rev. Bobby Irvin officiated. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service on Sunday, Aug. 7, at McKibben and Guinn.
Travis was born on Aug. 6, 1951, in Glendora, the son of Travis Leroy Sr. and Alberta Lance Mitchell. He retired after working for more than 36 years with AT&T. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
His parents and his brother, Oscar Mitchell, preceded Travis in death.
Survivors include, his daughters, Libby Cunningham of Corinth and Ginny Scholler (Eric) of Ocean Springs; sons, Lance Mitchell (Karen) of Carrollton and Austin King of Carthage; sisters, Anna Ruth Byrd of Grenada and Linda Jones of Greenwood and two grandchildren, Addison King and Aidyn King.
Pallbearers were Scotty Bailey, John Helms, Zack Helms, Hunter Irvin, John Mitchell, Justin Rowland, Brian Smith and Rob Turnage.
