Grenada Lady Chargers volleyball splits matches

The Grenada High School volleyball team improved to 8-7 on the season by splitting a pair of matches last week.

The Lady Chargers lost a 3-0 decision to perennial power Oxford to open the week in a match that was moved to Oxford due to the water problem the city encountered.

The Kirk Raiderettes honored its five seniors prior to last Thursday’s home contest with Rossville (Tenn.) Academy at Raiderette Field. They culminated the night with a 9-0 win over the Lady Wolves for their second win of the season.

Grenada Middle School drops games to Tupelo

The Grenada Middle School Chargers hosted Class 6A foe Tupelo at home last Tuesday and struggled in a pair of losses.

In the seventh-grade contest, Grenada lost a 34-8 decision to the Golden Wave. Braylon Hardiman scored the lone touchdown on a 75-yard run.

Joshua Guest was the defensive standout for the Chargers.
