Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. Sylvester Lenear “Wankie” Watt, 80, of Grenada, who died on Saturday Jan. 13, in Grenada. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Carroll County. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, at Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church.
Sylvester was born on Aug. 13, 1943, in Carroll County, the son of Basie and Mae Allen Watt. He was the owner of Sylvester Watt and Sons service station in Grenada for more than 35 years.
Survivors include, his wife, Derothey Watt of Grenada; sons, the Rev. Lester Watt and Levester (Tracey) Watt, all of Grenada; brother, Jacob Watt of Holcomb; sisters, Genell Watt of Grenada, Gloria Tidwell of Holcomb and Claudia Stevens of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Octavious Watt, Jordon Odoms and Lyric Watt, all of Grenada, and Shaquoya Watt of Conyers, Ga., and great grandchildren, Emory Watt of Jackson and Jace Odoms of Grenada.
