The Grenada County Board of Supervisors met Oct. 28 following a recess that was called at the Oct. 17 meeting.
Vice President Darrell Robinson declared a quorum present with Michael Lott being the only absent member for the meeting. Chancery Clerk Johnny Hayward and Board Attorney Jay Gore were present and business proceeded.
After the review and upon the recommendation of Willis Engineering, Columbus Hankins made a motion, seconded by Chad Bridges to declare Tri C Construction, LLC., the lowest and best bid for the Tarnell Road EWP Bank Stabilization. The bid of $66,892 was the lowest and was awarded to Tri C Construction, LLC.
Other bids included, Townes Construction ($67,450), Ste-Bil Grading ($79,675), Diversified Construction ($87,125), A&B Construction ($93,345), J.J. Ferguson S&G ($94,198.75) and TM Productions ($100,935).
In other business, the Board:
• Approved the signature of paperwork regarding the construction or adjustment of a utility within the county road right-of-way located at 2817 American Way.
• OK’d the issue of manual claims for Tallahatchie Valley EPA in the amount of $28,982.99 and NextStep Innovation in the amount of $5,535.
• Approved additional sick leave for Clerk of Court Judith Eldridge following surgery.
• OK’d Hayward to take the next steps in applying to the Local Assistance and Tribal Constituency Funding to be used for any governmental purpose other than a lobbying activity.
• Approved the application for financial assistance under the Mississippi Home Corporation 2022 Home Investment Partnerships Program.
• Authorized the transfer of property—bush hog 2719 rotary cutter— from District 4 to District 1.
• Approved the following holidays Nov. 24 and 25 for Thanksgiving, Dec. 23 and 26 for Christmas, and Jan. 2 for New Years, and authorized the closing of the Grenada County Courthouse and Justice Court office for the days listed.
• The Board discussed the need to perform an appraisal on property owned by Steve Thomas in Industrial Park.
• Authorized Hayward to complete the necessary registration to receive National Opioid Litigation Settlement Funds for Grenada County.
