Margaret Jean Ross’ children are hosting a birthday reception in honor of her 90th birthday. The come and go reception is on Sunday, Sept. 4, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the former Presbyterian Church in Oakland. Put it on your calendars and stop by to wish Margaret Jean a wonderful 90th birthday!
Christian love and sympathy goes out to the James Harold Nail family. James leaves his wife Nelda and two sons, Dwayne Nail (Jackie) and Criss Nail of Tillatoba. Two grandchildren, Tristian Nail Taylor and Justin Nail.
Emily Crawford says if you’re going to break your foot, make sure your sister, has already broken hers first so you can use all her stuff. Emily was playing duck duck goose with a 3 year old in the nursery and she stepped on a riding toy. Praying you won’t have to have surgery, Emily.
Mickey and Daisy Isbell recently visited Mickey’s daughter in Union City Tenn., Candice & Jason Oldaker and their children Tif , Carson, and Zane. They watched Carson play football and watched Zane play the next day. It was a wonderful trip but all good things must come to an end so they are back home now, I’m sure reminiscing about the good time they had.
Ginger and Phil Harrison have both boys in school. Josh started his Senior year and Jake moved back in the Dorm at Delta State. Ginger said it has been busy but hopefully they will all get into their new routines soon. Jake sang “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” last Sunday at Pine Grove and did a great job. Both of those boys are so talented and always do a good job! Guess they get it after their daddy, Phil.
Tommy McCool’s brother, James McCool, had to go to the ER this week. He had a hernia and had let it go too long and had to have emergency surgery. He is home now and is resting. He lives in Philadelphia.
My daughter, Donna Garripoli took me shopping in Oxford last Sunday afternoon. When David and I go to Oxford, we usually don’t feel like shopping after our doctor visits so I enjoyed this afternoon.
Martha Box says she is still going but not quite as fast. She’s trying to get things done at her house plus she picks her granddaughter, Marnie up from Kirk and while she is waiting in line, she has been crocheting pretty scarfs. That helps the time pass while waiting and will make nice Christmas gifts!
Martha is planning to ride to all the states she has not seen. That is as soon as gas gets back down a lot more than it is now.
David and I rode up the road last Sunday afternoon and visited with our great granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes. She fed me cookies and we played and watched cartoons. It’s hard to get their attention for long when cartoons are on. I did get a few pictures of her and she did too, but it was of the floor and her feet. Still, sweet pictures.
Happy belated Birthday to Barry Hoop on the 15th, Joel Bailey celebrated the 16th, Marilyn Toney on the 18th, Rose Ann Rose celebrates the 20th, Scotty Chambers the 22nd, Benny Walker and Lilly Whitaker celebrate the 23rd and Annette Corley, Pat Brooks, Phillip Bell and Heath Crawford celebrate the 24th. I pray you all have a great day of celebrating.
Ray Bell was honored with a cookout at his home for his birthday.
Debbie McCool and family went to her daddy’s after church and cooked out for his 88th birthday. Their girls and their families were there. Christopher and his family couldn’t make it and were missed.
Also, Patsy Merrill made homemade ice cream and a cake for daddy. Patsy’s daughter-in-law, Pheibe Merrill, and the three grandchildren were there, too. They found out she is going to be a great grandmother times two, and I’m going to be a great-great aunt. Her granddaughter Veronica and husband are expecting a girl in November and her grandson Nicholas and his wife Loren just found out they are expecting. My congratulations to all of you.
Recipe of the Week:
Crustless Sausage Apple Quiche
• 1/2 pound pork sausage
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
• 4 eggs, beaten
• 1/2 cup Bisquick
• 1-1/2 cup finely chopped apple
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1 cup half and half
Cook sausage until crumbled and browned. Drain well. Combine apple, Cinnamon, nutmeg, cheese and sausage. Mix well and pour into a 9-inch pie plate. Combine eggs, half and half and Bisquick. Mix well and pour over apple mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for forty minutes.
