Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Sammie Gene Pollan, 75, of Tillatoba, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at his residence. Burial with Masonic Rites followed in Grenada Memorial Garden. The Rev. James Melton officiated.
Gene was born on Dec. 23, 1947, in Tangipahoa, La., the son of the late Sammie Lee and the late Mildred May Pollan. He was a skilled welder and spent many seasons of his life working at Heatcraft in Grenada. He was a member of Hardy Baptist Church and a Mason. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. More than anything, he loved the Lord.
In addition to his parents, his first wife, Margaret Pollan; his brother, J.L. “Lightning” Pollan; one daughter, Sherrie Floyd, and one granddaughter, Brittany Suber, preceded Gene in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Patsy T. Pollan; children, Teresa Coleman (Johnny) of Marion, Ark., Donna Prestage (Greg) of Hughes, Ark., Donna Pollan of Calhoun City, Cindy Winders of Hughes, Ark., and Terry Floyd (Phil) of Duck Hill; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
