A homegoing service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Leflore Baptist Church for Rebecca G. Bishop, 56, who died on Friday, June 23, at her residence near Holcomb. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Rev. Miles Raney, the Rev. Blake Henson and the Rev. Nathan Gorman officiated. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, June 26, and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at the church.
Rebecca was born in Greenwood, the daughter of Nathan Wayne and Joyce Taylor Gorman. She graduated from Grenada High School and worked for the Grenada School District and the Grocery Basket in Grenada. She was a longtime resident of the Leflore Community and was a member of Leflore Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include, her husband, Jerry Wayne Bishop; daughters, Misty Morgan Winters (Dewayne) of Tillatobia, Heather Raney of Grenada and Taylor Hill (Jonathan) of Scobey; sons, Michael Charles Morgan Jr. of Charleston and the Rev. Miles Raney (Erica) of Grenada; sisters, Janet Moore (Jerome) of Jackson and Stacy Henson (Danny) of Holcomb; brother, the Rev. Nathan Gorman Jr. (Beckie) of Paragould, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Dakoyta Winters (Daraka), Syerra Winters, Natalie Hill, Laynie-Claire Hill, Chase Hill, Presley Morgan, Alayna Morgan and Charla-Jean Raney and one great grandchild, Ximena Winter.
Pallbearers were Anthony Henson, Drew Henson, Casey Bailey, Marcus Thomas, Jerry Bishop Jr. and Brandon Bailey. Chase Hill and Presley Morgan served as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Leflore Baptist Church.
