Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada for Mrs. Patricia Sue “Patsy” Waddle Williams, 87, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Aug. 1, at her residence. Burial followed in Oddfellows Cemetery in Grenada. Dr. Brent Barker and the Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiated.
Patsy was born on May 14, 1937, in Belmont, the daughter of the late A.J. and the late Vivian Harris Waddle. She earned a degree in education from Delta State University where she met Spencer, her husband of 64 years.
Patsy enjoyed a long, successful career in education. She retired from Grenada High School after 29 years in the classroom. She was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada where she was actively involved in the Hope Sunday School Class. In her spare time, Patsy was an avid golfer and a skilled Bridge player.
Survivors include, her husband, Spencer Williams; two daughters, Cindy Williams Ponder (Rusty) of Brandon and Connie Williams French of Ridgeland; sister, Lucretia Alexander (Jack) of Belmont and five grandchildren, Rustin Ponder (Sydney), Karlee Sirko (Bobby), Reed Ponder, Katie Pendleton (Daniel) and Sarah Simmons (Davis).
Van Alexander, Daniel Pendleton, Reed Ponder, Rustin Ponder, Davis Simmons and Bobby Sirko honored Patsy by serving as pallbearers and carried her to her rest in the Oddfellows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
