Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Mary Frances Driskell Cooper, 93, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Grenada. Burial followed in Charleston City Cemetery. The Rev. Daniel Herring officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, and again one hour prior to the service on Thursday, Sept. 14, all at McKibben and Guinn.
Frances was born on April 4, 1930, in Charleston, the daughter of the late Henry Frank and the late Mamie Ousley Driskell. She enjoyed a long, successful career spanning more than 43 years with Entergy of Mississippi – formerly Mississippi Power and Light. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada.
Frances loved animals and also enjoyed traveling. She will lovingly be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who set the example of always putting others ahead of herself. She will be sorely missed for many years to come by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include, her husband of 64 years, Jim Cooper; sons, Al Cooper and Ken Cooper (Holly); two grandchildren, Casey Cooper and Mary Margaret Cooper; a special great niece, Kay Nesbit (Tim) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jimbo Griffin, Karl Grubb, Lewis Keen, David McElwrath, Scott May and David Nobile. Honorary pallbearers were Robin Dambrino, Kevin Steed, Sam Waits and James “Doc” Wall.
