Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at Rosebloom Church of the Nazarene for Mrs. Marie Bryant Bloodworth, 95, of Rosebloom, who died on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Burial followed in Smith Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Hatcher and the Rev. Mark Moore officiated. Mrs. Bloodworth’s niece, Mrs. Charlotte Bryant Madison, delivered a personal eulogy. The family received friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the church.
Marie was born on Aug. 1, 1928, in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late James Fonzie and the late Evie Ann Nabors Bryant. Marie and her late husband, Brooks, owned and operated “Bloodworth’s” at Rosebloom where they worked side by side for several decades. Following his death, she was blessed to continue to work in to her 80s and to live to see the fourth generation of Bloodworths continue to run one of Tallahatchie County’s longest standing family businesses. She was a faithful member of the Rosebloom Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Kenneth Brooks Bloodworth; two sisters, Corinne Crocker and Garneita Murphree, and five brothers, Selma Bryant, Arlis Bryant, Herman Bryant, Victor Bryant and Hollis Bryant, preceded Marie in death.
Survivors include, her sons, Hollis Bloodworth (Liz) and Keith Bloodworth (Nell), all of Scobey; four grandchildren, Wade Bloodworth (Becky), Laura Beth Kendall (George Jr.), Paige McCardle (Brad) and Ashley Bianchi (Ed) and five great grandchildren, Mary Bradley McCardle, Brooks McCardle, Ward Bianchi, Blake Kendall and Parker Kendall.
Pallbearers were Ed Bianchi, Ward Bianchi, Wade Bloodworth, Blake Kendall, George Kendall Jr., Brad McCardle and Brooks McCardle. Honorary pallbearers were Parker Kendall and Mary Bradley McCardle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Rosebloom Church of the Nazarene or the Smith Cemetery Fund.
