Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Mae Alois Heck Sultan, 94, of Flower Mound, Texas, who died on Sunday, Jan. 14, at her residence. Burial followed in Providence Cemetery. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service time on Saturday, Jan. 20, at McKibben and Guinn.
Ms. Sultan was born on Jan. 21, 1929, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late William Henry and the late Luvenia Whelan Heck. She worked for Baldwin Piano Company in Greenwood for more than 26 years. She was a member of Hill View Baptist Church in Greenwood.
In addition to her parents, one son, Roger Dale Sultan; her sister, Lucille Hunt; her brother, James Allen Heck, and a granddaughter, Bridget Marlar, preceded Ms. Sultan in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Cathy L. Daniels (Frank) of Flower Mound, Texas; two sons, Jimmy Lee Sultan (Joan) of Duck Hill and John Willis Sultan (Nan) of Vaiden; seven grandchildren, Amy Vance, April Fetters, Tonya Wiltshire, Corey Woods, Chrissy Arnold, Brian Huett and Paul Burcham; 16 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Kannon Fetters, Kros Fetters, Austin Lott, Kyle Wiltshire, Taylor Wiltshire and Tyler Wiltshire honored Ms. Sultan by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Providence Cemetery. Araya Fetters, Haiden Woods and Lacey Woods served as honorary pallbearers.
