Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada for Leatha Faye Collins, 59, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, Dec. 24, at her residence. Burial followed in Grenada Memorial Gardens. Bro. Sherman Barnette officiated. Visitation was held from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.
Leatha was born on May 9, 1964, in Greenwood, the daughter of the late Bobby Lee Collins and the late Quincy Faye Carter Matthews Collins. She was employed for many years by Gibson’s Pharmacy as a pharmacy tech. At the time of her passing, she was serving as the deputy circuit clerk for Grenada County. Leatha loved cooking, working in her flower garden, cutting grass and generally being outdoors. She also enjoyed traveling, antiquing and going to auctions.
In addition to her parents, two brothers-in-law, Harris “Boots” Dunn and Jim Curtis, and one nephew, Jeremy Matthew Dunn, preceded Leatha in death.
Survivors include, two sisters, Marilyn Curtis and Sharon Dunn; one niece, Noelle “No-No” Bruner; two nephews, Ben Curtis and Jason Dunn; a special great nephew, Austin Dunn, and a special cousin, Mary Carter “Mac” Barnette.
Noelle Bruner, Ben Curtis, Jason Dunn, Willie Collins, Odie Collins, Carter Brandon served as pallbearers with Terry Lane serving as an honorary pallbearer.
