Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at Stonefield Church of God in Cascilla for Mrs. Hattie Ray King, 89, of Holcomb, who died on Sunday, Nov. 26, at her residence. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Rev. Mark Moore and the Rev. Farrell Wilson officiated. Family and friends gathered from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Stonefield Church of God.
Mrs. King was born on Nov. 16, 1934, in Tallahatchie County, the daughter of the late Jessie Newt and the late Lillian Leona Scallion Taylor. She worked for a number of years at Pennaco Hosiery before joining her husband in their family business, King’s Auto Sales. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her yard and flowers. She was a devoted member of the Stonefield Church of God and loved the Lord with all her heart.
Mrs. Hattie Ray will lovingly be remembered by her family as a woman of unwavering faith and a heart of gold. Her memory will live on in the lives of those she loved for many years to come.
In addition to her parents, her husband of 54 years, James Albert King; two brothers, Jessie S. Taylor and Curtis Dean Taylor, and a son-in-law, Tommy Grantham, preceded Mrs. King in death.
Survivors include, two daughters, Debra King Grantham (Ricky) and Mary Ann King Grantham, all of Holcomb; son, Johnny Wayne King (Darlene) of Holcomb; sister, Janice Davis (Albert) of Cabot, Ark.; two brothers, Norris Taylor (Roseann) of Holcomb and Travis Taylor (Cathy) of Mobile, Ala.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson, Tiffany Franklin, Mindy Robinson, Christina Cook and James Wesley King; 13 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Jake Franklin, James King, Jared Robinson, John Robinson, Matthew Wilson and Zach Wilson honored Mrs. King by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in the Stonefield Cemetery. David Robinson served as an honorary pallbearer.
