Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood for David Ladell McCluskey, 64, who died on Sunday, Jan. 7, in Greenwood surrounded by his family. Burial followed in Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb. The Rev. Jerry McNeer officiated. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.
David was born on Nov. 20, 1959, the son of the late D.L. and the late Betty McCluskey. He graduated from Strider Academy in 1979, and while there, he was a member of the football team and given the nickname “MAC.” He was a member of Sparta Methodist Church in Holcomb and started his working career delivering milk for Borden, and later retired from Scott Petroleum where he was transport manager for 25 years.
Survivors include, his wife, Heather Lindsay McCluskey; sisters, Susan M. Steen and Margaret Lindsey; brother, Jody Murphy (Ashley); three daughters, Mary Parker McCluskey, Kacie McCluskey and Lindsay Miller; two grandsons, Briston McCluskey and Bryce Miller, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Dudley Holman, Danny Holliman, Howard Holliman Joey Greco, Shane Cox, Mike Acy, Jason Rainey, Taylor Woods and Ken Johnson.
