Visitation with the family was held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Charleen Browning, 92, of Greenwood, who died on Sunday, Nov. 26, at her residence. A graveside service followed at Holcomb Cemetery with Randy Carver officiating.
Mrs. Browning was born on Nov. 8, 1931, in Greenwood, the daughter of the late Wade and the late Catherine Cunningham Carver. “Charley,” as she was affectionately known, enjoyed a long career in the hospitality industry and was a member of Holcomb Baptist Church. She loved to travel and the tranquility of reading a good book. She deeply loved her family and friends and always had a smile and a “love you the best” to share.
Of all the names she could be known by, “Gran” was the one she treasured most as she cherished the time that she was able to spend with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Gran’s legacy will be forever cherished and she will perpetually be “92 years loved.”
In addition to her parents, her husband, T.B. Browning; son-in-law, Phil Correro, and two grandsons, Hunter Wade Correro and Jason Browning, preceded Charley in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Carol Jackson Correro of Holcomb; three grandchildren, Missy Mitchell (Jay) of Holcomb, Shane Correro (Carmen) of Holcomb and April Gilmer (Mark) of Greenwood; three great grandchildren, Mitch Correro (Ashley) of Holcomb, Savannah Correro (Liam) of Covington, La., and Laken Boone (Mark) of Sidon; two great-great grandchildren, Ava Lane and Carter Wade Correro; three stepchildren, Tommy Browning of Jackson, Bud Browning (TJ) of Petal and Page Browning of Greenwood; stepdaughter-in-law, Beverly Mayo Browning of Pearl; three step grandchildren, Anel Daguerre Henry (Gareth) of Brandon, Dana Blaire McMorris (John Grady) of Buford, Ga., and William Taylor Browning; 10 step great grandchildren, Shelbi Claire Moore, Garrett Moore, Slate Henry, Piper Rayne Henry, Caroline Snow McMorris, John Luke McMorris, Avery Manning, Archer Manning, Amelia Manning and Luca Browning, and close family friends, Candy Carver and family.
Mark Boone, Carter Correro, Mitch Correro, Shane Correro, Mark Gilmer and Jay Mitchell honored their Gran by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in the Holcomb Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
