Becky was born on Aug. 13, 1948, in West Point, the daughter of the late Hugh William and the late Carolyn Justice Cooper. After graduating from West Point High School, she attended East Mississippi Community College. She continued to cheer on the EMCC Lions by attending games and festivities throughout the years. After graduating with a degree in education from Mississippi State University, Becky made her home in Grenada. She was a teacher in the Grenada School District and retired after 32 years. During summers and holidays, she worked at the Children’s Boutique, Chaney’s, Sav-Mor Drugs and First Health Pharmacy.
Becky was an avid “crafter,” enjoying crocheting, needlepoint and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Mahjong with friends. She was always looking forward to and planning her next trip as traveling was always one of her favorite things. Becky was known for her extensive collection of Barbies and still had her first Barbie from 1959. She also enjoyed a good Sonic Diet Coke and collected Coca-Cola memorabilia.
Becky was a faithful and active member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada and served as UMW treasurer and Sunday school teacher in her early years. Her Sunday school class, The Word, was an integral part of her spiritual life and she enjoyed the Christian fellowship she had with her class.
Survivors include, her children, Josh Angle (Suzanne) and Christy Carol Jourdan (Dusty); grandchildren, Mallory Pounds (Drew), Tyler Angle (Claire) and Hallee Jourdan; three great grandchildren, Quitman Pounds, Gentry Pounds and John-Merle Pounds and special friend, Chris Perry.
