The Nation's Weather for Friday, January 14, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A system diving southward from Canada will cause widespread
accumulating snow in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest
tomorrow. The heaviest snow is expected to fall in
Minnesota, Iowa and eastern North Dakota. Travel will be
treacherous with snowpacked and slippery roads. In addition,
increasing winds will cause blowing and drifting snow.
Lighter snow will blanket portions of Wyoming and western
and central Colorado. A storm located off the Eastern
Seaboard will be close enough to brush eastern Massachusetts
and eastern Rhode Island with a mix of rain and snow. Even
outside of any precipitation, much of the Northeast can
expect a breezy to windy day. The Pacific Northwest will
finally get a break from persistent rain and high-elevation
snow.
