A Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Greenwood for Nancy Kimes McCurdy, 80, of Carroll County, who died on Saturday, Dec. 27. The family received visitors beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the church.
Nancy was born on Feb. 25, 1945, the daughter of the late Thomas Edwin “T.E.” and the late Mary Wachter Kimes. In 1960, she met the love of her life, Robert Andrew McCurdy, out on Money Road. They were married soon after and enjoyed a long and loving marriage of 62 years.
Nancy was a graduate of Greenwood High School and worked as a real estate broker and owner of The Property Shop in Grenada, later serving as a broker with Landmark Realty. Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren — until the great grandchildren came along. She was also an avid plant lover, who enjoyed bringing wilted plants home and nursing them back to something beautiful. Nancy was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Greenwood.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Edwin “Eddie” Wachter Kimes, preceded Nancy in death.
Survivors include, her loving husband, Robert McCurdy; her sister, Grace Kimes Bowden (Steve) of Fort Worth, Texas; her childhood and lifelong best friend, Vickie Bates (Charlie) of Aledo, Texas; her daughter, Shayne Marie Johnson of Fort Mill, S.C., and her sons, Robert Chassaniol McCurdy of Carroll County and Kevin Kimes McCurdy (Rose) of Eads, Tenn.
Nancy is also survived by her grandchildren: Eddie McCurdy (Emmalynn) of Albany, Ga., Emilee Waldrop (Paul) of Fort Worth, Texas, Zachary Johnson (Emily) of Charlotte, N.C., Heath McCurdy (Arniecia) of Memphis, Tenn., Hannah Porter (Noah) of Grenada and Jesse Johnson (Patricia) of Great Falls, Mont. She is further survived by her great grandchildren: great grandsons, Case Porter and Wyatt Porter, and great granddaughters, Zelie Johnson, Gianna Johnson, Josephine Johnson, Adeline Waldrop and Avila Rose Johnson.
In lieu of flowers — at Nancy’s request — memorials can be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Greenwood.
