Graveside services were held immediately following visitation on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, in Embry Cemetery in Webster County for Mrs. Myrna Wood Watson Shaw, 85, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Grenada. Family and friends gathered for visitation from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.
Myrna was born June 26, 1938, in Webster County. Mrs. Shaw spent many years of her working life as the receptionist at Heatcraft in Grenada. She loved the Lord and was a member of Brandon Baptist Church. A voracious reader, she took great pleasure in reading a good book and also spent a great deal of her time reading and studying God’s word.
Myrna was blessed to have traveled the world with her husband in her younger years and carried many wonderful memories with her of their travels. “Shaw,” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, will long be remembered for her strong faith in God and the love she had for her family.
Her mother, Louella Wood Watson Harrison; her father, Arlie Watson; her husband, Thomas Marion Shaw; one daughter, Ruth Ann Shaw; an infant son, and one sister, Diane Wilson, preceded Myrna in death.
Survivors include, one daughter, Carol Tharpe (James) of Grenada; one son, Jon Shaw Sr. (Debbie) of Tilly, Ark.; one sister, Kay Fallon of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Thomas Walton McMahon, Matthew Hicks McMahon, Jon Shaw Jr., Amanda Barnes and Robert Heath Jr. and a host of great grandchildren.
