A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona for Marvin Green Abel Jr., 84, of Flowood, formerly of Montgomery County, who died on Saturday, Aug. 23, in Jackson. The Rev. Randy Bridges officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Friday, Aug. 29, at Oliver Funeral Home of Winona.
Marvin was born on Aug. 19, 1941, in Duck Hill, the son of the late Marvin and the late Jewel Alexander Abel. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Pamela Quakenbush Abel; two daughters, Catherine Abel Baker and Lesley Abel; brother, William Baxter “Billy” Abel, and sisters, Sara Opal James and Margaret Ann Patridge, preceded Marvin in death.
Survivors include, one daughter, Jeffrey Abel Ellington of Flowood; two grandchildren, Eric Todd Leslie and Devan Morgan Ellington, and a host of nieces and nephews.
