Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at First United Methodist Church of Grenada for Clyde Simmons, 87, of Grenada, who died on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Burial will follow in Haven Rest Cemetery in Grenada. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at Clark-Williams Funeral Home in Grenada.
Mr. Simmons was born on Jan. 22, 1938, in an area of Grenada County referred to as Glen Wild, the son of the late Lewis and the late Etta Simmons. He is a high school graduate who enlisted and served in the United States Army. He had a passion for serving and protecting his community as a police officer.
Mr. Simmons also served as president of the local Grenada Reunion and received a Key to the City of Grenada on May 28, 2005. He was also a Mason and served as vice president of the Jolly Boys Club for numerous years. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, his sisters, Mary Williams and Dorothy Simmons, and brothers, Lloyd Simmons, Lewis Simmons, Frank Simmons, Roosevelt Simmons and K.C. Blanks, preceded him in death.
Survivors include, his beloved wife, Leonia Parker Simmons, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
Clark-Williams Funeral Home in Grenada is in charge of arrangements.
