Grenada County is one of more than a dozen northwestern Mississippi counties currently preparing for winter weather conditions.
The National Weather Service out of Jackson issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Grenada and Leflore counties, including the cities of Grenada and Greenwood, just before 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 2.
According to the advisory, freezing rain is expected between 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, and midnight Friday, Feb. 4. A “light glaze” of ice accumulation is expected.
According to NWS, difficult travel conditions are possible with hazardous conditions possibly impacting the morning or evening commutes.
“Slow down and use caution while traveling,” the advisory reads. “Prepare for possible power outages.”
