Poor House Water Association issued a Boil Water Alert for numerous customers living in Montgomery County Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials with the Grenada-based water utility company, a precautionary boil water notice has been issued for customers living on County Road 96, County Road 97, Highway 404 and Wilkin Chapel Road. Duck Hill residents that receive their drinking water from Poor House Water Association are also under the alert.
A loss of pressure prompted the Boil Water Alert.
"Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until tests prove otherwise," Poor House Water officials said.
Officials recommend that customers "vigorously" boil their water for one minute before it is consumed.
"Customers will be notified when tests show that the water is safe to drink," Poor House Water officials concluded.
