The Kirk Academy junior varsity and varsity boys and girls cross country teams opened the 2025 season last Monday in the Jackson Prep/Jackson Academy Invitational held at Brandon.
Individually, sophomore Cullom Crowe was the highest boys finisher at 8th place with a time 18:16 in the 5Kk, which is 3.1 miles. Senior Charley Rose led the girls, placing ninth with a time of 22:10.
Other finishers in the varsity girls division included, junior Jena Mims (21st) at 23:29; senior Parker Avant (30th) at 24:24 and sophomore Adyson Kilgore (55th) with a time of 26:39.
On the boys side, junior Carter Mattox finished 25th with a time of 19:28. Sophomore Will King was 43rd with a time of 20:51 and junior Tanner Wilbourn was 121st with a time of 25:59.
The JV boys finished ninth overall, led by freshman Jack Cravens, who finished in eighth place with a 10:59 in the 3K race. Freshman Dawson Campbell was 29th with a time of 12:04. Eighth-grader Russ Mims finished 88th with a time of 13:15, followed by eighth-grader Witt Cravens with a 13:43, which was 104th. Eighth-grader Cross Clark ran a 14:39, followed by classmate Hayden Bundt at 14:51.
Freshman Claire Thomas had a 52nd place finish in the junior varsity girls division. Kirk returned to action Monday at the Pillow Academy Invitational. Results were not available as of press time.
The Raiders and Raiderettes will host an invitational meet at Emmanual Baptist Church on Sept. 29.
