Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Frances Carolyn Woods Vance, 94, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Aug. 31, at her residence. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery in Carroll County. The Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiated.
Carolyn was born on Feb. 28, 1929, in Attala County, the daughter of the late Irving and the late Hattie Carter Woods. She worked at Pennaco Hosiery for more than 35 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. A devoted homemaker, Carolyn was gifted at making anyone in her presence feel at ease. Time spent with her family was what she valued most.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Joe Vance, and three sisters, Myrle Cain, Joan Young and Lois Jones, preceded Carolyn in death.
Survivors include, her sons, Ronnie Vance (Pat), Donald “Bubba” Vance (Tammy) and Larry Vance (Karen), all of Grenada, and Joe Vance (Christy) of New Albany; one sister, Nell Barfield of Kosciusko; eight grandchildren, Aaron Vance, Michael Holliman, Lauren Homan, Kristen Baggerly, Allie Pierce, Caleb Vance, Drew Vance and Abby Vance and seven great grandchildren, Brandon Vance, Kaleigh Holliman, Samuel Holliman, Vance Homan, Lorelai Homan, Connor Baggerly and Pharis Catt.
Pallbearers were Kyle Baggerly, Bud Homan, Brett Pierce, Aaron Vance, Caleb Vance and Drew Vance.
