Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Eva Collins Scheafer, 83, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at her residence. Burial followed in Grenada Memorial Garden. Dr. Clarence Cooper and the Rev. Jerry Hatcher officiated.
Mrs. Scheafer was born on Dec. 3, 1938, in Winona, the daughter of the late Calvin Lee and Mary Corinne Johnston Collins. She retired after 36 years of service at Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada. A fabulous cook, she loved to share her Christmas candies and other delicacies with those she loved. Above all, she was devoted to her family and will be remembered for many years to come as a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, her husband, John R. Scheafer Sr.; one son, Calvin Scheafer; great grandson, Joseph B. Barrow; sisters, Nan Collins, Bernice Jacobson, Charlene Moore and Mary Billie Boatman, and brothers, Clinton Collins, Fred Collins, John Boy Collins and Hilliard Collins, preceded Mrs. Scheafer in death.
Survivors include one son, John R. Scheafer Jr. (Lynn) of Coldwater; daughter-in-law, Cathy Scheafer of Rosebloom; grandchildren, Stephanie Garcia (Oryan) of Grenada, Jordon Scheafer (Amanda) of Rosebloom and Stacy Cook (Bryan) of Independence; great grandchildren, Bryan Barrow, Bryce Barrow, Kayden Garcia, Charlee Garcia, Hayden Scheafer, Hudson Scheafer and Dustin Cook and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
