Thunderous booms could be heard as fireworks climbed high into the night sky over Grenada Lake amid the laughter of young and old alike as carnival rides flipped and spun festivalgoers last Friday night near the spillway.
The jammed-packed night marked the midway point of the 28th Annual Thunder on Water Safe Boating Festival at Grenada Lake.
Thunder on Water Executive Director Wanda Roche was pleased this year.
“It was a great year,” she said. “A little thunderstorm came in and paused us on Saturday, but as soon as it passed the guests came back. We are so proud of our community for the hospitality and support of Thunder on Water. From the Board of Directors of Grenada Lake Association Thunder on Water, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers and visitors to Grenada Lake in helping make our safe boating festival a success. Also a special thank you to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Hugh White State Park for allowing us to hold our event there.”
