A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Emily Ann Downs Farmer, 40, of Grenada, who died on Friday, April 25, in Santa Rosa County, Fla. The Rev. Kevin Tribble officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, May 3, at McKibben and Guinn.
Emily was born on Oct. 11, 1984, in Greenwood. She possessed a servant’s heart and was proud to have been a graduate of the paramedic program at Holmes Community College. Emily served the community and surrounding areas with excellence as a paramedic. A woman who possessed many talents, she enjoyed painting and was also gifted with a wonderful musical talent. Emily could play most any instrument that she picked up.
Emily was a loyal friend to many and even in the worst of situations, she backed her friends up with an “I support this behavior.” Emily was a self-proclaimed “Super Nerd” and truly was blessed with the most brilliant mind. She will be missed for many years to come.
Her paternal grandparents, Joe and Vera Downs of Carrollton, preceded Emily in death.
Survivors include, her two daughters, Violet Farmer of Westland, Mich., and Madelyne Farmer of Gulfport; her father, George Downs (Rina) of Grenada; her mother, Kay Lewis of Florida; sisters, Candace Goodnight of Hernando and Jillian Craig of Cleveland; grandfather, G.B. Summitt of Alaska and nieces and nephews, Mason Shelton, Ethan Shelton, Riley Shelton, Luke Goodnight, Lynnsey Goodnight, Lance Easley, Payton Easley and Adelyn Easley.
Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers included Jacob Carson, Jeremy Downs, Jonathan Downs, Joshua Downs, Brad Vickers and Ryan Vickers as well as all of her EMS and first responder family.
