Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. David Lindsey “Dee” Vaughn, 75, of Duck Hill, who died on Wednesday, April 23, in Jackson. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Lane and the Rev. Eddie Lumbley officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, April 30, at McKibben and Guinn.
David was born on Nov. 5, 1949, in Ruleville, the son of the late Norman W. and the late Marie McCool Vaughn. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church. David is remembered for his mechanical genius and inventions, and most of all, his laugh. He lived life at full speed, never slowing down. His work ethic was admired by everyone.
“I live on a lake, that’s my life,” was David’s motto. He worked at Heatcraft before leaving to start several businesses. He also developed “Vaughn Lake” as a popular fishing/camping area and the annual Fourth of July fireworks. He loved people of all ages and was always ready to lend a hand if needed.
In addition to his parents, two sisters, Virginia Sue Vaughn and Mary Jane Bullock, and two brothers, William “Billy” Vaughn and Thomas Wayne Vaughn, preceded David in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 51 years, Marjorie Dale Kendall Vaughn; daughter, Melissa A. Vaughn; three sisters, Norma Marie Caldwell and Patricia Ann Ingram (James), all of Grenada, and Brenda Kay Davis (John) of Hernando; one brother, Jerry Vaughn (Becky) of Scobey; two granddaughters, April McLeod and Amanda Moree; three great grandchildren, Melissa Welch, Adriane (Dustin Randolph) and Dylan Johnson (Katelyn Cooley); adopted daughter, Tyshie Landon, and a host of nieces and nephews, who adored their Uncle Dee.
Randy Bonner, Morgan Evans, Kerry Marlow, Andrew Morgan, Larry Payne and Mark Walters honored Dee by serving as pallbearers and carried him to rest in Red Hill Cemetery.
