Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Winona for Mrs. Edna Joyce Boatman Bright, 78, of Stewart, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Jackson. Burial followed in Reeds Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Stewart. The Rev. Randy Bridges officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bright was born on Nov. 13, 1946, the daughter of the late Arnold and the late Edna Eloise Cox Boatman. She was a member of Church of Christ Restored in Stewart.
In addition to her parents, her husband, William Ernie “Boukum” Bright; one son, Michael “Mike” Bright; her sister, Mary Edna Boatman Orlansky, and one brother, John Boatman, preceded Mrs. Bright in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Amanda Bright Ellis (Richie) of Pearl; three sons, Tim Bright (Linda) of Duck Hill, Robert Bright (Tammy) of Stewart and Carl Bright (Billy) of Stewart; two brothers, Arnold Boatman (Patricia) and Eddie Boatman (Sue), all of Stewart; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Reeds Chapel Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 104, Eupora, MS 39744.
