Funeral services were held at noon on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Dorothy Sue Holloway Fleming, 81, of Brandon, formerly of Grenada, who died on Friday, Feb. 2. Burial followed in Pinecrest Memorial Garden. The Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiated. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service on Monday, Feb. 5, at McKibben and Guinn.
Dorothy was born on Aug. 26, 1942, in Calhoun City, the daughter of the late Gilbert Lee and the late Nannie Mae Pendergrast Holloway. She worked for a number of years at Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She lived to serve the Lord, alongside her husband. Dorothy loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart and will be missed for many years to come.
In addition to her parents, her husband, the Rev. Archie David Fleming; one son, Richard Dewayne Fleming; her sisters, Virginia Putman and Syble Jones, and her brothers, Edward Earl Holloway and Gilbert Lafayette Holloway, preceded Dorothy in death.
Survivors include, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth Fleming Thorn and John Thorn of Brandon; one son, Michael David Fleming of Gore Springs; six grandchildren, Stephanie Boone, Eric Thorn, April Abel, Bridget Lamb, Emma Greer and Nathan Braddock Fleming and a host of great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joey Fleming, Michael Lamb, Eric Thorn and John Thorn.
