Burial followed in Duck Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Keith Harris and the Rev. Cole Pratt officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the church.
Dot was born on April 27, 1933, in Avalon, the second child of the late Grady H. Collett and the late Janie Smith Collett. Her daddy said she cried the entire first year of her life. Her formative years were at Schlater and she graduated with honors from Minter City High School.
Following high school, Dot traveled with her parents to many states, then returned to work in Greenville. It was there she met the love of her life, George Hall, who was then stationed at Greenville Air Force Base. All the females were forewarned to “not mess with the flyboys,” but love prevailed and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Dot was employed by the Montgomery County School System for nine years and ultimately retired as a clerk at Grenada Lake Medical Center where she worked for more than 23 years. She was a devoted member of Duck Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed serving on special events and the flower committee. Dot was also very involved in the Friends of the Duck Hill Library.
In addition to her parents, her husband, George Hall; daughter, Pam Morman Roberts; sons, Grant Hall and Jon G. Hall; one granddaughter, Lizzie Roberts; sister, Faye Sligh; brother, James “Buddy” Collett, and son-in-law, Jeff Roberts, preceded Dot in death.
Survivors include, one granddaughter, Lacey Morman of Memphis, Tenn.; two great grandchildren, Ari Morman and Charlie Harrison, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were Gary Kirk, Kenny Mitchell, Keith Norris, Edwin Taylor, Greg Williams and Billy Woods. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Love Sunday School Class, Nancy Kirk, Margaret Lindsey and Brenda Norris.
