Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Holcomb Cemetery for Mr. Cyril Dean “Sonny” McCalop, 73, of Holcomb, who died on Sunday, April 27, in Grenada. The Rev. Kevin Tribble officiated.
Sonny was born on Dec. 19, 1951, in Carroll County, the son of the late C.D. and the late Dorothy Jean Wood McCalop. He lived a simple life and enjoyed watching Westerns.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Nona McCalop, and one brother, Big Mike McCalop, preceded Sonny in death.
Survivors include, his two brothers, Donald McCalop (Lynda) and Guy McCalop, all of Holcomb; nieces, Donna Brown (Shane) and Leigh Ann Melton (Ryan); great niece, Molly Melton, and great nephews, Joey Brown and Calop Brown (Olivia).
Calop Brown, Joey Brown, Shane Brown, Billy Hill, Charlie Holland and Ryan Melton served as pallbearers.
