Happy New Year! I hope you all had the traditional meal and plenty of it! I pray the New Year 2023 will treat you better than 2022.
Last Thursday evening, just before dark, David looked out and it was snowing like crazy and the wind was blowing hard. It looked like a blizzard. I finished cooking supper and just when I was putting the leftovers up, the lights blinked four or five times and out they went.
This has been some crazy weather lately. While in Oxford last Tuesday for a doctor’s visit, I saw several wearing shorts. That’s how quick the weather can change, so always be prepared.
Carolers from the Tillatoba Baptist Church came last Wednesday night and they sounded beautiful. Some of the little ones I had not seen since COVID-19 were on hand. Thanks everyone.
Happy 38th anniversary to David and me on Jan. 11. The modern gift given on the 38th anniversary is beryl and tourmaline. A semi-precious stone, the Tourmaline, comes in a wide range of colors. Now, I was reading that line that said beryl and tourmaline kind of fast and thought it said trampoline. I said to myself, if that man gets me a trampoline there wouldn’t be a 39th anniversary.
I tried jumping on one of those things many many anniversaries ago and it just didn’t work. My feet were over my head before my head decided where it was supposed to be.
Baileigh Tillman’s father fell and hit his head. He was in the hospital in New Orleans. Drew and Baileigh made a trip down there to check on him. That was the night the weather was so bad. They made a safe trip and prayers were answered.
Happy belated birthday to Tamitha Jackson on Dec. 30. Starting off our January birthdays are, Jeff Tillman, Carolyn Pyron and Margaret Crenshaw Wilbourn who celebrate on the 2nd; Lisa Jones the 6th; Jessie Tillman the 8th; Jolacy Irwin and Hazel Harris celebrate the 9th and sweet ill JoAnna Pullen and Erik Bailey celebrate the 11th. Happy anniversary to Sheila and Bubba Williams on the 11th.
Sam and Anna Pullen and daughter, Joanna, along with Nancy Chambers, went to Gatlinburg last week and enjoyed the Christmas lights. It was Sam and Anna’s seventh anniversary. They left last Wednesday and came back Sunday.
When the last storm came through, lightning hit Diane Dukes’ refrigerator. She was excited that they were delivering her a new one Friday, but that didn’t happen. Maybe they will deliver it before the New Year.
Martha Box said she found a sunspot in her house. Only 52 degrees inside and 16 outside, but the snow on the roof is melting. She stayed warm and snug last night and she will tonight if she spends the night with her sister, Joyce Stevens, at Oakland.
She had turned the oven on to bake for their Christmas when the power went off.
Faye Hartley was at the Christmas party for GranCare residents and gave out gifts. One of the residents received a hog head and was tickled to death. He said his director, talking about Faye, knew just what he wanted. Faye, you amaze me with all you do.
Diane Dukes had a house full Christmas Eve night visiting, eating and opening gifts. All the little ones especially had a good time opening their gifts. Then they were ready to go home and wait on Santa.
Waylon, Holly and Haven Rose Dukes and Junior Dukes visited their daddy, Dale and Shannon Dukes, Christmas Day.
David and I, along with son, Tim Sullivan, motored to Grenada and ate Christmas dinner in the lovely decorated home of daughter, Donna Garripoli. Those joining us were Brad, Francesca and Bradley Holliday and Maranda and Summer Procella. While there, David, Bradley and I rode up the hill from Donna’s and visited with sister, Ann, and Tommy Hudson. On our way out of Grenada, we stopped and visited another daughter, Brandy Rounsaville. When we returned home, our grandson, Junior Dukes, came bringing us a beautiful decorative metal door hanger with our last name on it. That made my Christmas complete.
Sadie Harper had her hip surgery and did very well. She is home now recuperating.
Odie Dahl is a little better, but not out of the woods yet. Please keep them in your prayer.

Thought for the Day: If a care is too small to be turned into a prayer, it is too small to be made into a burden.
