Our Grenada Lions Club year ends June 30, and we had our Charter Night program last Thursday night at Orleans Bistro. Brandi and staff fed us a delicious meal that included shrimp and grits, ribeye chops, tilapia, vegetables, lemon and chocolate pie, along with her new addition of butter roll dessert, something some of you might remember from Waymon Scarberry when he ran Mo Suga.
We were honored to have incoming District 30M Governor John Storley join us, along with his wife and daughter, from the Horn Lake Lions Club.
We hold this annual event to end each year by having a special meal with family and friends, and presenting awards to our outstanding Lions.
Prior to this night, our club was honored to present Dr. Michael Pegg of 20/20 Eyecare with the Edwin Dalstrom Award from Mid-South Sight and Hearing in Memphis, Tenn. Without Dr. Pegg and Dr. Chris Walls at 20/20 Eyecare, the Grenada Lions Club would not be able to give exams and eyeglasses to those who have no insurance or money to pay for them in our community. 20/20 Eyecare has been working with us for decades and we are grateful for their help.

I will be sharing with you some of the other awards from Charter Night in the next couple of weeks, as our club will not meet again until July 10. Don’t forget to join us for lunch that day if you are interested in becoming a Grenada Lion.
We can always use more people dedicated to serving others. Our Lions meet twice a month at noon on Wednesdays for lunch at Orleans Bistro. It’s a great way to serve others in your community. Our Leos meet at 5:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at Lost.
