GASH continues to assist our local citizens with temporary housing, primarily with the assistance of local motels, and other needs. As a report to our donors and the citizens of Grenada and surrounding areas, an Impact Statement has been prepared.
As a summary of our accomplishments, we used three measures and have prepared the following:
• Number of individuals, couples and/or families helped — 25
• Number of nights we sheltered recipients — 85
• Number of ‘helps’ — For example, couples equal two per night, four if it was two nights; a mom and two children equals three or nine if for three nights, etc.)
In those 85 nights, how many “helps” were provided for the year? — 415
That is approximately 35 “helps” per month. We had requests to provide shelter every month of 2023, except August. One horrible crisis was a house fire on Margin Street on Christmas Eve, 2022 that involved a mother with 9 children. We provided much assistance in January and February for this family until they could get into a rental house. Our community stepped up big-time to provide these needs, and we were there to coordinate the efforts.
We are thankful to all individuals, civic clubs and churches which donated to allow us to provide these services. We are again in need of funds to continue. If you would like to donate, please make your check out to Grenada Area Sanctuary of Hope and mail to P.O. Box 1654, Grenada, MS 38902-1654. GASH is a 501(c)(3) charity organization so 100 percent of your donations are tax deductible.
