Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Christine Scoggins Howe, 76, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Sept. 13, at her residence. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. The Rev. Guy Hughes officiated. The family received friends from noon until service time on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at McKibben and Guinn.
Christine was born on Nov. 3, 1948, in Batesville, the daughter of the late Roderick Adell and the late Laverne Hubbard Scoggins. She earned a degree from the University of Mississippi and taught English and mathematics for more than 25 years at Grenada Middle School. Christine loved spending time outdoors tending to her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and preparing delicious meals for them.
In retirement, Christine found great joy in playing Bridge with many of her friends and was always ready to go antiquing to find her newest treasure. Above all, Christine enjoyed the priceless time she spent with her grandchildren, whether it was crafting at her house or cheering them on in their activities, they were the highlight of her life. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Earl “Bobby” Howe Sr., and one brother, Roderick Scoggins, preceded Christine in death.
Survivors include, her daughters, Christy Howe Vance (Joe) of New Albany and Michelle Howe Downs of Grenada; son, Robert Earl “Robbie” Howe Jr. (Amy) of Leland; two brothers, Paul Scoggins of Houston, Texas, and Mike Scoggins (Rose) of Pope; seven grandchildren, Taylor Howe, Reed Howe, Allie Pierce (Brett), Caleb Vance (Bella), Drew Vance, Preston Downs and Nelson Downs and two great grandchildren, Pharis Catt and Addie Pierce.
Nelson Downs, Preston Downs, Chris Ford, Reed Howe, Taylor Howe, Brett Pierce, Caleb Vance and Drew Vance honored Christine by serving as pallbearers.
The family expresses its deepest thanks to Christine’s devoted caregivers whose support and love were invaluable along with the compassionate team at Adoration Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
